This September, The Eagles returned to the Las Vegas Sphere for their tour -- “The Long Goodbye Act III." The Long Goodbye is lapping last year’s strong run that started in September and lasted through April. (Incredibly, that tour generated around $125M in ticket sales. So much for the skeptics that were dismissive of the Sphere in its early days.) However, in February, founding member Don Henley said that The Long Goodbye would be the band’s last tour (assuming that they “can” leave). This Sphere run lasts through January.
This past Friday and Saturday was the start of The Long Goodbye; it was a strong start with observed visitation just slightly less (-3%) than the first two weekend appearances in September ’25. Last year’s September shows were reportedly sold out. Given estimation error, we’d judge this past weekend’s shows as “sold-out” (or nearly so). As the appearance is no longer novel, we applaud the weekend’s at-capacity turnout.
Back on the Sphere as a novel and exciting venue with strong appeal. The Wizard of Oz at Sphere has now been playing since August 28, 2025. As such, the show is now lapping YoY and observed visitation remains solid. Should the current run rate hold, that would put Oz show dates (per day-average) for September / October close to last year’s strong fall run. Given that it has been running for a year, that’s “remarkable” – fitting for Vegas. And like the Eagles’ seminal song (Hotel California), it looks like the Sphere will be popular for decades, but will it do so for five decades like the song has achieved?
